Beagle Attack!

London, our beagle puppy, springing a trap on some unknowing ducks

Why I like it: I think this picture tells a great story. At first glance, a dog is scaring some ducks, but dive deeper and you discover a story more sinister. Notice the bread crumbs near the lower center of the frame — perhaps to lure the ducks in? Notice London’s paws, only the top two are on the ground… And finally, the outstretched human hand in the upper right side; definitive proof that he was a mere accomplice to a human crime.

A buddy of mine up here in Seattle is starting to show his paintings. I love his use of color and texture to subtly add drama to his paintings.

Here is his artist’s statement:

“I struggle with the subjectivness of art; how does one place value on something that only finds value in its comparison to another subjective piece? But it is this tension that also inspires me because I find that humanity works the same way. We seek our purpose and value by placing ourselves on a scale made up of nothing more then the entropic reality of life. But hope is found in the fact that life keeps happening amidst the toil, painting is to me an expression of that hope, the hope I find in a God who gives me the grace to wake up each morning and seek to make the world a better place.”

New PaulWeinert.com!

June 2nd, 2008 admin Posted in Life No Comments »

So I’m very happy to announce that after some months of work here and there I’m unveiling the new paulweinert.com. My goals for the project were to build the new site on top of a great content management sytem, refresh the look and feel of the site and build a place that will show off some of my photography work as well as my designs.

I think the end result is pretty neat, looks good and is way more functional than my old flash site. Search engines can now crawl it, I’ll get better analytic information, it’s standards compliant, and it’s so much easier for me to update and hopefully, much easier for you all to use.

Anyway enjoy the new site. Please feel free to send me any feedback that you have using the contact page.
