Gorilla

A Gorilla Chillin’ at the Seattle Zoo

Why I Like It: For some reason this Gorilla reminded me on the Fonz — so cool, so relaxed. For composition, I like the lines drawing toward the Gorilla’s face.

Action Joel

Joel

Joel getting his Frisbee on.

Why I Like It: Joel is a natural athlete, so for his portrait he wanted a shot of him in the action. With the help of another friend playing catch, it was up to me to follow along and take some pictures. I would be lying to say if I didn’t play a little myself.

Me

Why I Like It: A tripod, a self-timer, and a pretty background equals a great photograph of me. Notice the strikingly handsome stubble beard.

Wes and Rachel Engagement Portrait

Wes and Rachel

One of Wes and Rachel’s Engagement Pictures from a shoot near Kerry Park.

Why I Like It: Wes and Rachel were up for the weekend so I shot some quick engagement pictures. A little bit of post processing helped normalize the color balance between the sky and the couple. This was a real natural shoot at a location of their choice.

Statue

A close-up portrait of our family’s guardian statue.

Why I Like It: Black and White macro’s are some of my favorite pictures. I love the texture and the composition of this shot. I think the split frame is very cool and a very dramatic..

Dan Portrait

Dan

A brooding portrait of Dan.

Why I Like It: It’s such a simple shot and composition. I think the subtle sepia tones really help highlight the textures and draw you into his eyes.

Lydia’s Portraits

A collection of portrait photo’s of my lovely wife.

Why I like it: I like the way that each of the photos conveys a different mood. This progression is similar to how I view her, she is very quiet with a lot of people, but one day, shortly after we first started hanging out, she exploded into this mass of playfulness and cuteness that I’ve been enraptured with ever since. So I think these portraits capture elements of her pretty well.
